General Summary:

Lead and manage the entire range of Food Safety and Quality programs, as defined in the Pepperidge Farm Quality Policies and CSC North American Quality Policies. Position has specific compliance, process, and consumer quality responsibilities. Position will manage a matrix relationship with Plant Manager to influence senior management on alignment of Quality strategies, Quality annual objectives, and Plant project plans.  Individual will coordinate and deploy Quality Assurance programs across the site, and functional areas, and influence plant leadership with quality best practices.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Develop, drive, and continually improve a comprehensive food safety and quality program as defined by the Pepperidge Farm QPM and CSC North American Quality Policies. (Compliance Quality)
  • Drive process improvement initiatives through staff, work group, Pepperidge Farm Quality staff, and R&D (Process/Food Quality)
  • Manage & Drive Consumer Complaint programs, initiatives, and consumer delight models for each business.
  • Manage department and team by establishing goals, objectives, individual development plans and coaching.
  • Support plant programs across Safety, People, Quality, Delivery and Cost. Job Complexity
  • Response to new or changes in regulations on specifications, procedures, quality, and implications where utilized in a range of finished product.
  • Trouble shooting quality issues across the varied supply chains for ingredients, packaging, materials, and finished products supplied (examples; mixed labels, allergen risk management, equipment risk management, container nonconformance).
Job Specifications
•    Minimum BS Food Science (or related degree), and a minimum 5-7 years of food industry quality plant/systems
experience with demonstrated achievement in Quality leadership.
•    Expert abilities and decision quality in Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality Systems and their application within
food processing.  Facilitate and/or direct resolution to issues as it relates to food safety and quality.
•    Expert knowledge in Sanitation and GMP Practices, familiarity with Pest Control programs and techniques
•    Knowledge of Quality Standards, and Quality Policies, with skills and ability to execute against requirements.
•    Knowledge and general business acumen to support and influence Manufacturing, including best practices and
innovative technologies.
•    Knowledgeable in industry Food Safety/Quality audit practices, and skilled in adapting to achieve business best
practices.
•    Capable of engaging other business units in the development and standardization of: Quality manuals, policies,
procedures, and data templates, audit standards and procedures, and Quality Key Performance Indicators.
•    Knowledgeable in Statistical Process Control programs and Process capability studies.
•    Ensures plant personnel are technically capable of handling non-routine quality system issues and that issues are
investigated, documented, and resolved.
•    Record of leadership and demonstrated success in collaborative development, documentation, planning, and
implementation and continuous improvement of quality systems.
•    Ability to drive facility leadership alignment on Quality objectives with an enterprise-wide mindset, and the
adaptation of structure, processes, and systems to achieve objectives.
•    Capable of influencing development steps used in the Innovation and Commercialization process to leverage
Design in achieving consumer safety and quality objectives
•    Assertive, outspoken, yet collaborative.  Demonstrated skills influencing components of the company, tough-
mindedness, vision, and political savvy to manage internal and external relationships and situations.
•    Dedicated work habits, takes initiative, sets high standards
•    Knowledgeable and capable of collaboration on quality programs; drives improvement of consumer-based
specifications.
•    Awareness of Continuous Improvement tools.
•    Ability to manage, coach, and develop people, talent, and skills needed for the job.
•    Ability to demonstrate and execute against the Campbell leadership model 

•    Desired certifications:  PCQI, HACCP, GFSI (SQF)
Working Conditions
Travel is estimated at 5%-10%.

Job Summary: Responsible for managing the in-line process control to ensure that food products meet standards set by both the Company, customers and regulatory authorities. Develops and reviews quality and food safety policies and manage audits by third-party inspectors. Trains and develops quality control technicians and oversees their job performance.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Work safely in every case and promote safety at every interaction with associates
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, corporate, customer and 3rd party audit requirements.
  • Ensure that all products meet all specifications and requirements.
  • Manage facility HACCP food safety program and associated prerequisite programs.
  • Ensure that all employees are properly trained in quality-related procedures by developing and/or presenting training materials.
  • Participate in the establishment of quality specifications and standards for finished products.
  • Implement solutions to quality problems through inspections, CAPA investigations, and audits.
  • Perform or lead investigations on quality deviations or other concerns. Ensure accurate product labeling and compliance and participate in addressing regulatory issues pertaining to food labeling that arise across the Company.
  • Work with the Quality Manager for ongoing development, implementation and improvement of the Quality Management System. Implement policies and procedures and be a driver for continuous improvement in the facility.
  • Establish performance goals for the Quality Assurance Department staff, making certain key objectives of the Company are met.
  • Develop and maintain documentation to comply with record keeping requirements.
  • Assess product quality risk as needed in determination of final product disposition.
  • Perform other duties as needed for the successful operation of the facility.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a food related discipline
  • 5+ years of food industry quality experience
  • Supervisory experience desired
  • Knowledgeable about food safety standards within the food industry and mandated by government regulations
  • Expertise in HACCP, GMP, BRC and/or SQFI
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Intermediate or better skills in MS Office

Environment:
  • Quality Control Manager Chaucer Foods Inc Office and laboratory and production work locations
  • Exposure to extremely cold temperatures
  • Regular exposure to fruit
  • Ability to stand, twist, bend, and lift up to 20 pounds
  • Must wear appropriate PPE in the lab and production environments

Objective: To provide leadership to ensure the facility is kept safe, clean and well organized; to provide leadership for training on Quality and Food Safety initiatives and fundamentals.

Principle Accountabilities: 
  • Review and train on relevant SOPs for food safety, HACCP, GMPs, et al 
  • Train on BRCGS code and program requirements (learn BRCGS code if not already experienced)
  • Initiate food safety and quality hold procedures including communication and record keeping
  • Conduct plant food safety and security audits; continually look for food safety hazards
  • Measure and monitor environmental and plant conditions, including pre-operational startup
  • Collect and analyze sample data to ensure product conformance and process control
  • Perform quality tests on product
  • Verify lot numbers for raw materials, WIP and finished products are correct
  • Complete verification form for packaging materials and codes
  • Direct observation for HACCP records for CCP monitoring of the metal detector
  • Complete HACCP CCP paperwork on the required frequency
  • Calibrate scales and other sensitive equipment
  • Take responsibility for implementation of corrective and preventative actions as assigned
  • Enforce plant certification and regulatory requirements (FDA/ODA, Kosher, Organic, Gluten Free)
  • Develop content and signage to support Quality & Food Safety initiatives
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to facilitate smooth, efficient and regulatory compliant plant operations

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to be flexible with work hours and shifting priorities. Must be able to work any assigned shift.
  • Ability to apply technical principles to solve problems and make data-based decisions. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail and belief in high standards of presentation.

Education:
Education: BA/BS in Food Science or related discipline preferred

Experience: 1-2 years in food processing industry preferred

JOB SUMMARY:

The Lead Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleanliness of all the equipment throughout the building. This is a 2nd shift position with the following hours: Monday through Wednesday 4:30pm to 2:00am; Thursday 3:00pm to 12:30am; and Friday 2:00pm to 6:00pm (these hours reflect the normal schedule but are subject to change based on company needs).
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:    Assists in training of all sanitation personnel in assigned department. Assists supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever equipment changes are instituted, or new procedures are implemented. Helps in providing for a safe work environment for all personnel. Also helps ensure that all production and sanitation comply with food safety standards. Works with supervisor to help maintain sanitation standards of facility. Assigns work tasks to department personnel. Assists with pre-op inspections. Assists with safety audits. Monitor and assist with Pasteurization of eggs. Monitor and assist in all duties of cleaning and sanitizing facility. Monitor and perform temperature checks on tanks and silos. Perform weekly MSS compliance Handle shell truck responsibilities Monitor performance of Sanitation technicians assuring the following of written SSOPs. Perform routine maintenance functions as well as assist mechanic with other duties when needed. Operate safely powered industrial vehicles. Does extraneous checks in required areas. Helps maintain control records related to processing, including but not limited to production records, sanitation records and safety inspections   Maintains effective working relationship between members of department and other areas. Continually monitors lines for quality product and notifies all appropriate personnel if discrepancy is found. Follows all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements and safety procedures Follows all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) “washing hands, etc.” throughout the day. Follows SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) and keeps records updated. Follows USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) regulations and guidelines Monitors processing equipment on a continual basis to maintain proper production standards. Reports and fills out work orders on maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, sanitation, food safety, quality and human safety to maintenance. Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve productivity, quality or control cost of production or sanitation. Maintains accurate downtime records and daily shift report of all equipment in assigned area. Completes daily paperwork such as SAP (System Applications Product in Data Processing). Assures that all paperwork is properly completed and signed off as verification. Adheres to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.  Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Actively participate in and promote our safety culture by following safe work practices and adhering to all safety policies and procedures.  Responsible for reporting all incidents, accidents and observations of unsafe acts or conditions. Adheres to all safety polices and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.  
EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent  
EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of Sanitation experience within the food industry is preferred CIP (clean in place) experience preferred, not required  
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred  
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
 
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
 
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Ability to consistently follow safety and quality rules and procedures Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must have good communication skills. Self-motivated and a willingness to learn. Must have basic math skills. Must be able to train new employees. Must be able to work overtime and weekends. Must have basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc) Ability to analyze problems and find solutions. Ability to communicate in English (both written and verbal). Ability to obtain forklift operator License. Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR training Ability to work weekends, holidays and overtime an needed.
