OSIFT Scholarships 

Details/Candidate Criteria
  • ​The Oregon Section of IFT accepts scholarship applications between April 1st and April 30th.  
  • Applications received in April are reviewed for awards which are issued at the following October Monthly Meeting
  • Students must be attending an Oregon school for the academic year which follows the April 30th deadline.
  • Scholarship awards range from $1000-$2500 and several scholarships are available each year.
  • FST undergraduates, graduate students, and students pursuing FST minors are encouraged to apply.
  • Scholarship winners are expected to attend the annual OSIFT Student Recognition Night held on the second Tuesday of October. ​​
  • Students are limited to 2 total awards, regardless of undergrad/graduate status.  
  • Applicants may apply more than once, unless they have already received 2 awards.

How to Apply 
Step 1. Complete the Scholarship Cover Sheet
We encourage all students to apply.  If you feel that you do not meet all of the criteria outlined above…apply anyway! We look forward to getting to know you. ​

Step 2.  Write a letter telling us about yourself!
In addition to the criteria below, letters will be assessed for professional, well-written quality and enthusiasm for food science.
  • Desired career path
  • Financial need
  • Involvement with OSIFT
  • Involvement with IFT
  • Involvement with the Food and Fermentation Science Club
NOTE: Personal letter should be 1-2 pages, 1.5 line spacing
