 About Rite Stuff Foods:
Rite Stuff Foods is a rapidly expanding, leading specialty potato product manufacturer in the United States. We offer a growing range of tasty finger foods which include twice baked potatoes, potato skins, battered and breaded wedges, fried and filled skins, breakfast bites, extruded products, cheese sticks and other assorted batter and breaded vegetables.  
 Rite Stuff Foods’ parent company, Frostkrone, is in Rietberg, Germany.  Frostkrone is a leading finger food manufacturer, has six manufacturing operations throughout Europe and continues to explore additional acquisitions in the United States and worldwide. The Company is founded on innovation and is successfully expanding its sales organization worldwide.  We are focus on developing and producing new product ideas every day and are in the process of bringing many of these unique items into the United States currently. 
 Reports to:
Head of New Product Development
 Responsibilities
  • Execute research and development testing plans/ projects in support of company objectives as directed /assigned by Head of NPD
  • Ensures, there are written, detailed finished product specifications, batch sheets and process specifications to support consistency in product quality and performance.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective and accurate entry and maintenance of company recipe program in SAP.
  • Responsible for execution of all sensory tests needed to support new and product improvement projects. 
  • Establishes and confirms shelf life of ingredients intermediate work in progress and finished goods through structured studies and tests. 
  •   
  • Integrally involved in waste reduction as part of process improvement 
  • Integrally involved in new equipment or automation plant improvement projects. 
  • Responsible for regulatory documentation including verification of cooking instructions, Nutritional Facts Panels (Genesis) ingredient declarations, packaging and art approvals, and pallet configurations. 
  • Responsible to ensure timely approval of all NPD documentation to support New Product approvals, and existing product revisions.

  • Prefer Undergraduate degree in Food Science or related degree, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Customer focused mind set.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by the process of building something from the ground up
  • Independent, structured and goal-oriented work ethic.
  • Inventiveness and creative skills.
  • Must be a self-starter able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects/tasks at any given time.
  • Strong communication skills and team spirit. 
  • Hands-on mentality / qualities.
  • Maintain clean & safe manufacturing environment within all facilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Adept in MS Office programs and project management tools. 
  • Knowledgeable in Food Safety regulations both USDA and FDA.  Export EU is also beneficial

 Responsibilities
  • Execute research and development testing plans/ projects in support of company objectives as directed /assigned by Head of NPD
  • Ensure test recipes are accurate and repeatable to meet company objectives and meet expectations of both internal and external customers. 
  • Plan and carry out development work in lab and plant.  Work with Head of NPD in design and execution of project formulas and experiments.
  • Conduct analytical measurements. Create and report results to support project objectives.   
  • Support development projects all the way from conceptualization to commercialization – this includes budget and target within certain time constraints.
. Assist and work directly with  NPD team, plant processing and production personnel to ensure trial runs and start-up operations are properly performed.
  • Organize and manage work areas and test inventory.
  • Keep accurate records and  create written test  reports 
  • Manage and organize test inventory and sales samples.  Ensure accurate, timely delivery per customer expectations 

Qualifications:

Program Manager, Dairy Initiative
Department of Food Science and Technology
College of Agricultural Sciences, Oregon State University
 
The Department of Food Science & Technology (FST), in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU) invites applications for a Program Manager for Dairy Initiative.
This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE, 12-month position located in Corvallis, Oregon.
 
The Department of Food Science and Technology (FST) is an academic and research program that embraces the role as the epicenter of where food meets science and where students receive impactful education along with experiential learning as they advance their careers within the food and beverage community. Our faculty’s diverse research interests enable us to successfully collaborate with Oregon’s agricultural and food and beverage industries. FST provides value added finishes to the work conducted by our colleagues throughout the College of Agricultural Sciences. FST is taking a leadership role in ensuring Oregon and beyond will meet 21st century food systems’ challenges by integrating sustainability across all parts of our Mission – Education, Research, and Outreach. FST is one of 13 academic departments in the College of Agricultural Sciences. FST has a long tradition for strong stakeholder engagement and impactful research programs funded by over $7.5M federal and industry grant funding supporting around 50 graduate students. The Arbuthnot Dairy Center is the home for everything dairy foods related at OSU. The Center contains faculty at campus and at the Food Innovation Center (FIC) in Portland. Programs include dairy extension programs and courses, dairy innovation programs, dairy research, and an active dairy pilot plant that houses the Beaver Classic program and supports dairy entrepreneurs.
Program Mission: The Arbuthnot Dairy Center aims to
  • Be a top tier Dairy Research Program. Provide applied research that solves current industry challenges and identifies future opportunities
  • Strengthen Outreach, Extension, and Program Branding. We actively seek to support a viable and sustainable dairy sector in Oregon and beyond. We also seek to be the voice of science in the ongoing food debate. Our stakeholders range from dairy farmer to consumer and come in all sizes from artisan to large.
This position will develop, implement, and execute dairy foods programming, serve as project manager for industry troubleshooting/innovation projects, serve as liaison to external dairy foods stakeholders from industry to governmental agencies, funding agencies, consumers, and potential students, coordinate and lead visits from local, regional, and international visitors, and elevate visibility of program through social media.
This position requires travel to deliver programs and maintain collaborations. Active and effective communication with staff and key stakeholders is critical to the success of this position, wireless access may be necessary.
 
Position Responsibilities:
70% Program Management & Logistics Support Organizes internal dairy team meetings. Coordinates visits by dairy people/groups to OR and OSU (campus or FIC). Organizes and executes dairy events on campus such as FFA career event and events with OSU pre-college program. Works with ODNC to organize and run Future of Dairy event. Works with Oregon Dairy Industries (ODI), the region’s dairy processors, and dairy judges to schedule and execute the annual ODI Dairy Product Judging. Analyzes and reports results from judging.
Assists with developing the ODI Conference program and supports BUILD program logistics including communicating with BUILD leadership in Idaho. Develops supplier reference lists and other work to facilitate dairy innovation and supports extension/outreach courses.
Engage regularly with diverse internal and external collaborators to elevate the visibility of the OSU dairy foods program and facilitate communication. Research, extension, government and industry partners include; Oregon State University dairy food extension and research faculty at the Food Innovation Center, the Department of Food Science & Technology, Nutrition, Animal and Rangeland Sciences, Oregon Department of Agriculture, Oregon Dairy Industries, Oregon Dairy Farmers Association, Oregon Cheese Guild, Oregon Dairy & Nutrition Council, Dairy West, the Pacific Coast Coalition, Dairy Management Inc, along with professionals and executive leaders of dairy processing companies in Oregon, and beyond.
Supervision/ Lead work: Plan for, recruit, hire/train, and supervise undergraduate student helpers. 2-4 students throughout the year.
10% Central liaison and first contact for OSU dairy foods program Directs all dairy food inquiries to appropriate faculty. Prepares official intake tracking for all troubleshooting/innovation/safety requests, identifies faculty or rejects project, and tracks accepted projects until completion.
10% Communication lead for dairy foods program Develops communication on behalf of the dairy foods program and distributes through social media and news releases. Tracks outputs from dairy foods program and graphs data for benchmarking.
5% Career development support for students and industry Serves as liaison between dairy processing recruiters and students. Organizes recruiting events for dairy companies, this may include direct contact with students under the age of 18. Help guide students to identify careers in dairy. Tracks number of students employed as interns or permanently by dairy industry.
5% Service to Profession, University, Extension and Community Participate in professional activities and serve on appropriate boards, councils and committees of the University, the College, Extension and the dairy industry.
