The Regulatory Compliance Coordinator position is responsible for reviewing ingredients, components and preprinted packaging for accuracy as well as for incoming inspection. Assists with sensory evaluations and kitchen trials as requested. The Regulatory Compliance Coordinator will update and maintain records in the department databases and files.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review product information for accuracy, with regards to FDA labeling regulations and product specification sheets
  • Review Incoming Inspection reports and enter data into the appropriate software
  • Communicate product status with Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance team
  • File documents
  • Develop, compose and publish memorandums, reports, graphs and spreadsheets.
  • Perform various administrative support functions, including mail distribution, ordering office supplies and equipment, scheduling meetings, sending faxes, etc.
  • Other Duties as assigned
 
 
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma required, Associate of Science or additional higher education is desired, with course work in nutrition and/or food science
  • 6 months to 3 years’ relative experience desired or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Detail oriented with experience in R&D or Quality Assurance functions within the food industry is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of FDA labeling regulations is desirable
  • Must be able to review, document and communicate data within a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess extensive computer skills ability including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new technical tools.
  • 1-2 years of related work experience in data entry, Access Databases and SAP is preferred
  • Willing to be flexible to constant changes from production schedules and overlapping demands
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines with accurate and detailed results.
  • Must be able to pass a background check

Supervisor will demonstrate their ability to lead a team, coach employees, teach skills, and direct work in a manner that supports and extends our company culture of integrity, safety, and excellence.
We are especially interested in talking to candidates with aseptic packaging experience in either a low-acid or high-acid environment. 
Requirements
  • Industrial ingredient experience and a technical knowledge of production Strongly preferred. May include --
            - fruit juice concentrate and puree manufacture
            - vegetable juice concentrate and/or puree manufacture
            - other food production in a fluid plant such as milk
            - other food processing experience in fresh, frozen, and/or dried products will be considered
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills with a strong emphasis on fostering a team approach.
  • Ability to successfully manage employees in a positive union environment Bullet Points if needed.
  •  BS/BA from an accredited college or university with major course work in Food Science, Science, Bacteriology or closely related field.
  •  3-10 years’ experience in production and increasingly responsible supervisory positions.  This is a position that requires production supervisor experience.  This current position is not designed for a first-time production supervisor.
  •  Technical knowledge of fruit/vegetable ingredient product production.  Knowledge of fluid flow in a juice/puree production facility, strongly preferred.
  •  Sound knowledge and experience with principles and practices of business administration including personnel practices, employment laws and fiscal management practices; and the appropriate methods and means of dealing with human behavior situations in a variety of circumstances.  
Must be open to working alternate day and swing shifts with some graveyard hours.

Plant Manager, Food Processing, Prosser, WA

The Plant Manager directs and coordinates the production of high-quality products at a pre-scheduled volume with maximum efficiency through the effective assignment, monitoring, and management of Supervisors and hourly production, aseptic, blending and freezer employees.  Coordinates communication and activities of the production facility including operations, maintenance, quality assurance, engineering, sales and administration.
The Plant Manager provides leadership and direction within the department.  This position is expected to offer insight; make rapid, informed decisions; and provide experienced coaching and mentoring to crew members and Supervisors ensuring overall productivity, quality, safety, employee engagement and profitability for the company.Duties:
  • Responsible for managing the activities of Production and Operations Supervisors to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and a cost-effective manner.
  • Assists the Vice President Operation to coordinate and administer adequate plans for the control of plant operations.  Such a plan provides profit planning, expense budgets, and saving opportunities, together with the necessary controls and procedures to affect the plan. 
  • Coordinates communication between departments and operators.  Facilitates information transfer at daily leader/shift change meetings.  Freely initiates sharing information with other Production Supervisors, QA and Maintenance to ensure smooth operations.
  • Responsible for knowing the status of all products in process by reviewing and analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, and operational and production reports in order to keep operational delays to a minimum. 
  • Compiles and enters post-production reports into the Navision system including tank movements, blends and packaging.  Ensures all reports are thorough, accurate and timely.  Establishes and maintains strong interdepartmental communication with Finance.
Requirements:
  •  BS/BA from an accredited college or university with major course work in Food Science, Science, Bacteriology or closely related field.  Master’s in business administration or management a plus.  Experience may be substituted for a degree on a year for year basis. 
  •  10+ years’ experience in production and increasingly responsible supervisory positions.
  •  10+ years technical knowledge of fruit product production. Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.  Aseptic packaging experience in either a low-acid or high-acid environment strongly preferred.
  •  Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
  •  Sound knowledge of business and management principles including budgeting, strategic planning, and resource allocation.  Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, inventory and stewardship processes.
  •  Sound knowledge and experience with principles and practices of human resources including personnel practices, employment laws and fiscal management practices; and the appropriate methods and means of dealing with human behavior situations in a variety of circumstances.  
  •  Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth.  Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of supervision and training.

Plant Engineer, Food Processing, Prosser, WA

The Engineer is directly responsible for the design and implementation of manufacturing methods and processes that support product quality and quantity goals and objectives within their assigned facility.  Responsible to plan for and assure the efficient maintenance of production machinery and equipment, physical plant, utilities, and grounds in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.  Develops capital projects for designated facilities, makes recommendation for approval, and upon approval ensures timely completion of projects within budgetary guidelines.  Also directly responsible for the preparation of accurate cost analyses of assigned engineering projects and accurate project completion dates.Duties:
  • Directs and coordinates, through engineering, maintenance and operations personnel, activities concerned with manufacturing processes, engineering programs, and projects to ensure results within cost, schedule, and technical goals while maintaining safety, GMP's and high-quality standards. 
 
  • Provides engineering direction and support in identifying problems and effecting timely solutions to maintain the processes and the continuity of production flow for assigned facilities.  Arranges and distributes work and coordinates activities with plant operations for maximum efficiency.
 
  • Prepares and controls capital projects within budget constraints to meet facility development goals, assuring accurate cost analyses and project completion dates.  Prepares and controls the Engineering/Maintenance departmental budget for assigned facilities and projects.
 
  • Monitors, trouble-shoots, and tests new methods and procedures and/or newly installed equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications and system efficiencies.  Assists with programming changes required as plant requirements dictate.  Coordinates efforts with Engineering Systems Administrator.
 
  • Prepares design concept drawings with cost and completion date estimates.
 
  • Conducts a continuous search of new materials, processes, and procedures to enhance and improve the product line.  Interfaces with internal resources and external vendors to evaluate, cost estimate, and select purchase parts.
 
  • Oversees the preventive maintenance program within assigned facilities to maintain production machinery and equipment in proper working condition.
 
  • Directs the operations and maintenance of steam generating, electrical, compressed gases, water, and refrigeration systems to provide uninterrupted service.
 
  • Inspects jobs in process and at completion to ensure that standards of quality, workmanship, and safety are maintained. 
 
  • Oversees inventories of maintenance materials, supplies, and repair parts assuring that required inventory levels are maintained for the facility.
 
  • Ensures that quality production is attained through assigned personnel through fulfillment of workmanship standards and quality-program requirements.
 
  • Maintains solid working knowledge of all regulatory requirements relating to waste water, air quality (emissions), diesel conversion and other applicable regulations.  Monitors compliance, submits all proper documentation and schedules maintenance and repair for all companies and facilities.
 
  • Identifies and reports quality problems or trends in the assigned area based on data from a variety of sources.
 
  • Recommends or implements the appropriate corrective action to quality problems in the assigned area, with the aid of manufacturing and maintenance personnel.
 
  • Assures that effective communication between departments and key personnel are maintained within areas of responsibility.  Provides ongoing input to the Vice President Operations and the Senior Plant Engineer, especially regarding unusual or serious situations.

Requirements:• B.S. degree in engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
• Two - five years’ minimum experience in increasingly responsible positions.
• Sound knowledge and demonstrated ability in engineering principles and disciplines, employed manufacturing processes, technical report preparation, and meeting deadlines.  Aseptic packaging experience in a high or low acid environment preferred.
• Knowledge of PLC programming to the extent needed to successfully select equipment for capital projects, work with vendors on installation and trouble shoot start up challenges.
• Considerable skill in arriving at cost estimates on complex projects.
• Technical and administrative aspects of all phases of building inspections, building codes and city ordinances; contractor licenses; regulations and guidelines prepared by state and federal agencies relative to plant inspection requirements; and general construction techniques.
• Sound knowledge and experience with principles and practices of business administration including personnel practices, employment laws and fiscal management practices; and the appropriate methods and means of dealing with human behavior situations in a variety of circumstances.  
• Leadership skills
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to think creatively to identify business opportunities
• Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth.
• PC-based computing experience (word processing-Word, spreadsheet-Excel, email-Outlook).  Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD) and PLC programming.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Professional writing skills to compose memos, letters and other business correspondence observing all rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
• Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

KFK Seasonings, LLC - Quality Control Technician

​Position: As a Quality Control Technician at KFK Seasonings, you will be responsible for fulfilling day-to-day support of production, quality programs, and upholding GMPs in the facility. Specific responsibilities are listed below.  This position is full-time Monday – Friday and is a day-shift position that may have variable start and end time based on production scheduling. This position reports to the Food Safety Manager.
 
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine tasks to support quality control operations, including organoleptic checks on products, line releases, Allergen & ATP swabbing, sanitation checks, CCP verification, and regular facility GMP audits among other tasks dictated by Food Safety Manager.
  • Help maintain shelf-life program by gathering samples for microbiological testing and performing organoleptic checks.
  • Support Food Safety Manager and Research and Development in reviewing and updating raw material and finished good specifications.
 
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to do basic mathematical functions
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Must be familiar with all Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel
  • Able to understand and use basic lab equipment and carry out basic analytical testing
  • Able to work semi-independently and keep to tight schedule of quality checks
  • Good understanding of Kosher, Organic, Allergen, and Non-GMO control programs, or willingness to learn
  • Good understanding of GMPs, HACCP, and the SQF Code for Food Manufacturing Ed. 8, or willingness to learn
 
Education Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience in food manufacturing with an emphasis on Quality Control, or other relevant experience
  • Experience in the spice industry a plus but not required
  • High-School Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field recommended but not required
  • Bilingual Spanish-English highly preferred
 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods (variable)
  • Ability to lift 40 Lbs on an infrequent basis
  • Must be able to taste, smell, and see color well
 
Work Environment
  • KFK Seasonings contains office, manufacturing, and warehouse workspaces that this position is required to access and work in
  • Conditions can be hot or cold and occasionally will require particle masks when working near certain spices and other ingredients that can be irritants (e.g. Habañero Chile Pepper)
