Full Job DescriptionSuper Hero Title: Quality Assurance/Quality Control Technician

Essential Functions:
  • Perform assigned and scheduled laboratory tests on samples of raw materials, intermediate products, and final products in order to comply with company product standards.
  • Perform assigned and scheduled material (including but not limited to, raw material, packaging material) inspection in order to comply with company standards.
  • Keep accurate records of test result as required.
  • Mix and control concentrations of standard laboratory reagents.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment in good operating condition. Report all necessary maintenance and repair requirements in a timely manner.
  • Maintain chemical reagents inventory.
  • Maintain the cleanness and sanitation of laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with waste treatment, yeast cultivation and yeast culture transfer.
  • Keep all formulation, ingredients, test methods, and other trade related information in confidence.
Required Superpowers:
  • Knowledge and abilities in Food Manufacturing Quality Control laboratory practices acquired through education and/or experience as described in the EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS section.
  • Accurate record keeping abilities as demonstrated by previous experience.
  • Interpersonal skills adequate to work in a multi-culture work environment.
  • Able to stand or sit as needed for required periods of time while observing tests.
  • Able to handle chemicals, and mechanical testing equipment in the laboratory safely.
  • Able to work in an environment in the presence of odors normally associated with laboratories.
  • Be physically able to access all areas of the plant and production area.
  • Wear laboratory personal protective equipment.
  • Able to perform sanitation and clean-up duties.
  • Demonstrate adequate manual dexterity to perform assigned tasks.
  • Willing to communicate in a multi-cultural work environment.
  • Ability to tolerate heat, cold, dust and like environmental factors encountered during normal operation.
  • Knowledge of safe laboratory practices, chemical handling techniques, and microbial culture methods, proper use of automatic lab equipment.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to make complex mathematical computations to determine concentration levels, percentages, unit conversion, dilution factors, and other standard calculations related to this job.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with chemical reagents, indicators, laboratory equipment, and their uses.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry and/or Food Science related field OR
  • Minimum of two (2) years college education resulting in an associate degree, coursed taken in
Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biochemistry including laboratory procedure, laboratory safety, qualitative
and quantitative analysis, College level Algebra, and Food Safety System related field like HACCP,
FSMA, GFSI. Bacterial culturing experience is highly desirable. Or a minimum of Five (5) years of experience in Food Manufacturing Quality Control Laboratory environment and Food Safety Scheme environment (including Yamasa experience)

  • Able to work in an environment in the presence of odors normally associated with laboratories.
  • Be physically able to access all areas of the plant and production area.
  • Wear laboratory personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Able to perform sanitation and clean-up duties. Demonstrate manual dexterity to perform assigned tasks.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
