GENERAL SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

 
The Document Control Specialist ensures that all raw material, packaging, and finished goods specifications are current and reviewed at least every two years as well completing questionnaires and supplying supporting documentation as needed.

  • Creating and maintaining specifications for ingredients, packaging materials, and finished products
  • Creating and maintaining labels for ingredients and finished products
  • Creating and maintaining databases/registers for ingredient/pkg specifications, and labels/
  • This individual will complete questionnaires and provide requested documents customers. 
  • Create and maintain OSC raw material document library of quality and food safety documents to support our customer’s food safety programs
  • Troubleshooting labeling issues (software, label machine, label materials)
  • Provide assistance to QA personnel as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: 

  • BS/BA degree in Communication, Biology, Chemistry or Food Science (Food Science preferred)
 
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES, ETC.:  

  • N/A
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND BEHAVIORS:
  • Development of technical documents, including SOPs.
  • Specification writing and/or regulatory experience in a food manufacturing environment. (FDA regulated preferred)
  • Highly proficient computer skills using:  Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Syspro, Bartender, MS NAV.
  • Advanced working knowledge in computer-based Information Management /Document Control systems.
  • Experience working with document types (data sheets, drawings, technical specifications, operating procedures and the like)
  • Confident and clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals across all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to handle multiple concurrent projects and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Manage and balance multiple priorities and demands.
  • Self-motivation and pro-activity are required
  • Ask for help when needed.
  • Able to work off-shift and/or weekends if needed for projects (infrequent)
  • Must have excellent customer relations skills
  • Must have knowledge of FDA regulations for food labeling.
