DRUM DRYER OPERATOR IN WOODBURN, OREGON
 
SUMMARY:
Responsible for the start-up, operation, and clean-up of the Drum Dryer and packaging room.
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.  All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, safety rules, procedures and good manufacturing practices.
It is the responsibility of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report food safety and food quality problems or risks to personnel with the authority to initiate action against these said possible risks. The Organization chart indicated key personnel with the authority to take action.
This is a representative sample--not to imply a complete listing of all responsibilities and tasks.
  1. Responsible for the efficient and correct operation of the drum dryer
  2. Leads  the Drum Dryer assistant and helpers
  3. Monitors packaging materials
  4. Change blades at start-up and mid-week
  5. Assist in the training of new drum dryer personnel
  6. Check the metal detector every shift and record the results on your paperwork
  7. Make sure all paperwork is properly filled out and recorded
  8. Monitor thawing on raw materials and move to fresh fruit or cold room
  9. Check that all piping connections have been made and in-line magnets are in place
  10. Put on dryer shields, guards, lines, and covers on the dryer equipment
  11. Complies with all established sanitation and safety policies and procedures
  12. Follow pre-determined formula for batching.  Documents any usage changes from the formula
  13. Monitor and maintain oil levels in automatic oiler
  14. Monitor dust collector and make sure it is emptied, weighed and recorded at least once per shift
  15. Maintain proper flow speed to assure customer specifications
  16. Monitor Apple/Puree S.S. systems/in-line, make sure correct blend is being dumped
  17. Follow proper packaging requirements per Tree-Top/customer specifications
  18. In the packaging room, ensure that product is manifested properly and located in proper storage area
  19. Relieve packaging crew for breaks and lunches
  20. Provides packaging material to packaging crew
  21. Maintain a Clean, Safe Work Area:
Sweep floors and remove debris
Keep work area clean and rinse when necessary
Follow proper cleaning procedures: cover photo eyes, motors and electrical components etc.
Follow proper handling procedures when working with chemicals
Follow- Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Annual Master Sanitation Schedules
Maintains area of responsibility to meet GMP standards
Follow LOTO (lock out/ tag out) procedures when cleaning
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
 
 
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Tree-Top Certified Forklift Operator.
Trained in Hazardous Chemical Communication
 
TECHNOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS:
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 Trained to assemble and disassemble S.S. Bertochi
 Trained to start-up and CIP S.S. Apple/Puree system.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
