Greetings OSIFT,

It is officially fall! If you're like me, this is your favorite time of year- full of crisp morning air, colorful leaves, pumpkin spice EVERYTHING, Beaver games, and of course, the return of the students! 

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, October 13th at Eola Hills Winery in Rickreall. We will be honoring our 2015-16 scholarship winners and learning about how the Oregon Department of Education is teaching students how to connect with their food. This is sure to be a fun-filled evening and I hope you can join us!

Our speaker will be Rick Sherman, Farm to School/School Garden Coordinator with the Oregon Department of Education. Rick has a degree in Education from Western Washington University and had over 32 years in food service management before taking on his role in 2012.  Aside from being a competitive runner, track and cross country coach, home brewer, and dirt bike rider, he is also a Master Gardener! It will be exciting to learn how that experience lends itself to the Farm to School/School Garden program. 

Registration ends on Thursday, October 8th at noon!
