Summary of Position: The Associate Product Developer will be the primary R&D representative responsible for innovation, productivity, and renovation projects as assigned within the given product line. The position involves hands on bench work, pilot test work and related analytical tests, conducting and coordinating industrial tests in plants, assisting in industrial launch and management of projects.
Responsibilities:

• Act as R&D representative within each project team. Ensure project follow up with R&D project management tools. Genesis, SAP, Live Link, Food Safety Visa
• Develop formulations and processes, taking in account requirements of others functions such as Science/Claim, Regulatory and Quality. Design pilot trials, organize tasting sessions with Marketing, YoCream employees and at the YC store.  Draws conclusions and makes recommendations for next steps.
• Participate in consumer test design, organize sample production and ensure product quality follow up.
• Organize and run plant trials. Ensure product quality follow up.
• Participate as an R&D representative for product launch/start up. Prepare all specifications related to product line and ensure that all documentation needed is available prior to start up.
• Propose and implement productivity projects for assigned projects.
• Ensure quality of pilot plant tests and accuracy of results.
• Conducts shelf life testing
• To represent R&D interest within the company during all project related activities to which leadership is assigned.
• Work with suppliers to obtain best results for product development (brief suppliers and follow up on their progress)
• Reformulates current products for cost reductions, flavor improvement and/or ingredient replacements
• Provides costing of finished goods to Finance
• Works with Co-pack customers
• Understands how to use soft serve machines, ability to trouble shoot customer questions.
• Takes part in YoCream University
• Works very close with Quality Assurance and Production employees

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Food Science with 1-2 years of relevant work experience
• Ability to travel (25%)
• Ability to lead project work independently
• Must be proactive and have strong logic skills
• Demonstrated project management experience from development of an idea through to launch
• Desire and ability to understand the principles and application of Yogurt science and ingredient interaction with process.
• Strong Computer skills (MS Office).
• Organizational skills
• Ability to work cross functionally
• Excellent Communication skills
