Pacific Foods  - Team Leader-Back Half Grave

 Shift 4: Back Half Grave: Weds, Thurs, Fri & other Sat: 6pm-6:30am
 Provide work direction and supervision to production employees. Supervise all production area operators and related production activities. Oversee all activities regarding safety, sanitation, quality, maintenance, inventory accuracy and production. Organize and direct all operators in their appropriate duties.  Lead/participate in Continuous Improvement teams.
 Essential Functions
  • Enforce safety and quality procedures/policies.
  • Develop strong teams in each department as well as across departments.
  • Ensure the proper operation of all processing equipment by monitoring or assigning responsibility to monitor specific control points in the process.
  • Coordinate training for production employees in all aspects of the production operation.
  • Ensure paperwork is completed properly and accurately.
    • Kronos to track employee attendance.
    • Innatrack for component variances, supplies, completions, and any other necessary function.
  • Assist maintenance in their daily activities by prioritizing tasks to provide mechanical stability and increase efficiencies.
  • Ensure all Master Sanitation requirements are properly executed and documented to ensure 100% compliance with all in-house and 3rd party audits.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement.
  • Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves and aprons.
  • Responsible for reporting food safety issues to their supervisor and or QA
 Secondary Functions
  • Conduct interviews and make hiring decisions.
  • Assist with production scheduling activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for providing coverage in the absence of other Team Leaders.
 Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise production employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. 
 Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Strong technical knowledge of plant operations.
  • Strong supervisory and mentoring skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Able to prioritize quickly in a high stress environment.
  • Strong problem solving skills (root cause analysis, cause/effect relationships).
  • Proficient in computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with solid basic math skills.
  • Teambuilding, training, presentation, and instructing skills.  
  • Ability to push, pull, or move up to 200 pounds with mechanical assistance, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.  For items over 50 pounds or awkward items (e.g., PECO pallets), two or more employees will lift and/or carry using the buddy system.
 
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent specializing in Engineering, Business, Food Science or related field.  Two to four years supervisory experience in manufacturing environment; food production preferred. 
 
Working conditions:
The Production environment is subject to long hours, on-call status and extensive close work. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. Occasional use of and exposure to hazardous materials, high-pressure steam, high voltage and continuous standing.  Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
