Seasonal Laboratory Assistant - July 2023 Start

July 2023 Start | $18/hour
Wheat Marketing Center is seeking a seasonal Laboratory Assistant in wheat testing and technical support of projects and research. In addition, this role will work with the Assistant Operations Manager and existing Laboratory Assistants during the crop quality season (early July to end of September) to meet deadlines and achieve goals. Provide support for technical courses and facility tours. This position has the potential to become a full time permanent position.
Employment Duration:

• July-October

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists Operations Manager, Assistant Operations Manager, and existing Laboratory Assistants for wheat and flour analytical tests
• Support in research project process including assisting the technical team in the Bake Lab and Pilot Scale Lines (Cracker Line, Asian Noodle Line, Tortilla Line)
• Support the Crop Quality Process
  • Crop quality supply preparation (labels, sample bags)
  • Precise and accurate handling of data and wheat samples
  • Daily wheat quality laboratory testing
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

• Previous laboratory experience preferred but not required
• Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Must be reliable and prompt
• Must have legal status to work in the U.S.
• Strong work ethic; ability to work without supervision as well as in a team setting

Other Position Requirements:

• Must be able to work within the days of Monday-Friday during the hours of 7:30am-4:00pm
• Standing for long periods of time in a laboratory
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• A valid driver’s license
• Must have legal status to work in the U.S.
• No wheat or flour allergies
