Columbia Food Laboratories - Chemist

Columbia Food Laboratories (Portland, OR) is currently accepting applications for a Chemist to work in our Nutrition Department.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine analysis of samples in our Nutrition Department. 
• Work closely with department manager and team members to determine priority of samples, including but not limited to:
• Solution preparation.
• Sample extraction.
• Instrumental setup and analysis.
• Data processing.
• Result entry into LIMS.
• Peer review of data.
• Properly handle and dispose of laboratory hazardous waste.
• Assist with inventory and restocking of supplies.
• Execute projects as assigned to meet changing laboratory needs and requirements.
• Shared responsibility for general laboratory organization and cleanliness.
• Communication of relevant work details to supervisors and co-workers.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications:

• The successful candidate will have a degree, or relevant course work, in Chemistry. One year of experience in a production analytical laboratory is desired but not required.
• Must have excellent attention to detail, a strong sense of timing and ability to multitask independently, without direct supervision.  
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office.

• Must be willing to work either Tuesday to Saturday or Wednesday to Sunday once fully trained.
