What you will do:
We are looking for a dynamic solution finder and experienced buyer to join our growing procurement team. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of creative sourcing solutions and purchasing packaging materials and ingredients, including managing supplier relationships, conducting new supplier searches, Requests for Proposal (RFPs), supporting new product development and innovation, while developing outstanding cross functional partnerships. The Buyer will report to the Sr. Purchasing Manager and be responsible for coordinating, sourcing, ordering sample / prototype/ trial materials, negotiating pricing and terms with suppliers, and purchasing in a variety of areas including packaging, ingredients and services across multiple categories and serving on multiple internal project teams. The successful candidate demonstrates proactive communication of solutions, actions, progress, and deliverables in cross-functional forums and by working directly with suppliers, Research & Development, Project Management, Category Management, Design, Finance, Quality Assurance, Operations, and Supply Chain colleagues. This role’s requirements include critical steps in the timely and accurate commercialization of purchased goods: comprised of supplying the team and master data with purchase price, specifications, ordering parameters, approved vendor(s), order minimums and multiples, terms of payment and delivery. Preferred Experience with sourcing innovative packaging & ingredients.
 
Here’s a day in the life:
  • Buyer for a portfolio of materials including packaging, ingredients and services including identifying existing and potential suppliers for materials by determining the ideal combination of capability, capacity, total cost/price, quality, and availability
  • Serves as a subject matter expert or team representative on multiple project teams including documenting project deliverables, actions, progress, and completion in company work management application (Workfront, other) and supporting project sourcing needs
  • Requests quotations and negotiates product prices, financial terms, shipping requirements and freight costs
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices for pre-launch, prototype and active materials including reviewing for conformance to company policy, reconciling orders and invoices for accuracy (correct items, quantity, and dollar amount) and managing inventory reconciliation.
  • Creative solution finder including driving expedites on overdue and back ordered items and finding supply solutions often leveraging relationships across multiple production sites.
  • Supports new product development and process improvements through identification, selection, and activation, with stakeholder alignment, of new, or improved, supply solutions. 
  • Drive defective or unacceptable goods resolution with quality assurance users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action
  • Arranges for disposal of surplus materials
  • Approves invoices for payment
  • Communicates purchased item parameters (price, terms, order minimums and multiples, unit pack sizes, etc.) an obtains stakeholder alignment
  • Evaluates vendors to determine most desirable suppliers after conducting value for money and total cost of ownership analysis.
  • Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, cost savings, price variance, and inventories
  • Maintains vendor and supplier files including capabilities mapping and scorecards
  • Evaluates sales representatives and vendors for service and reliability
  • Recruits and maintains supplier relationships that provide high quality products and services at an ideal price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct
  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority and leads RFPs in buying areas
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
  • Conducts market analysis to verify supplier pricing is appropriate and/or in keeping with current market conditions
  • Negotiates complex requests for materials, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Analyzes opportunities to change materials, supplies, or vendors to reduce costs or risk, to improve quality or service, and/or to drive sustainability or stewardship objectives. 
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and potential risks
  • Able to prepare and deliver market analysis reports to stakeholders
  • Enhances vendor and stakeholder relationships
  • Evaluates vendors using the Vendor Scorecard and leads regular business review meetings with key suppliers
  • Communicates effectively
  • Utilizes a computer with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP and Power BI preferred
  • Is a customer service focused team player able to interact with at all levels of the company
 
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required. An Associate is preferred; a Bachelor’s degree is a plus
  • Experience with purchasing is required
  • Previous experience with purchasing in a manufacturing environment a plus
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license with satisfactory driving record

What you will do:
The R & D Associate Scientist II is responsible to help design, execute, and analyze all Tillamook research and the development of new products   The Associate Scientist II will often work  across all of Tillamook’s portfolio: Cheese, Butter, Whey, Cultured, and Frozen Desserts, in addition to continuous improvement projects both within our own and coman facilities.  Onsite management of trials, commercial production, and overnight travel is often required.  The R & D Associate Scientist II can effectively create experiments of design and perform risk analysis mitigation strategies on their own, but will also work collaboratively with other Product Development Scientists.
Here’s a day in the life:
  • Supports ideation to fill portfolio or market whitespace, filling the consumer jobs to be done
  • Prototypes formulations based on NPD direction, cost optimization, and other guardrails
  • Researches new ingredients & processes to be used across the business
  • Supports cross functional business units in root cause analysis and solution generation
  • Supports Marketing & Sales teams with technical mastery to aid sell in and marketing efforts
  • Analyzes the competitive landscape to guide strategy and category decision making
  • Researches food science principles & Builds professional network to implement solutions, acts as subject matter expert to share new learning across the team
  • Schedules, prepares for, and commands complex trial and first production runs. Reports results to a variety of audiences and interprets potential outcomes
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or a related field
  • M.S. a strong plus
  • Bachelors Degree + 2 years experience in an R&D field or Masters Degree + 1 year experience in an R&D field
  • Experience in food product development dairy product development preferred
  • Experience working in basic product development / life cycle system
  • Ability to lead an effective experiment of design, formula creation, and financial calculations. Drives NPD projects which are assigned directly to them and engages with mentors and leaders to ensure that correct process, risk mitigation, PM tools, and next steps are occurring when they should. Once given a specific NPD task, this person will effectively take through completion and recognizes logical next steps with active stakeholders to proactively engage them.
  • Understanding Sensory as a role of consumer expectation
  • Comfort operating equipment for pilot and scale up research.  End to end understanding of cost of goods

What You’ll Do: The QA Technician is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and upkeep of Panco Foods Inc.’s Food Safety Program. You will both be responsible for the overall program management, as well as ensure, through either delegation or direct action, the day to day implementation of food safety practices/processes and program adherence. You will ensure that all product safety needs are met, that employees are following GMP, 3rd Party Food Safety, and Kosher requirements, that all QA testing is performed and recorded and that all QA records are maintained. The incumbent works with other managers to ensure the support of, develop and contribute to a safe workplace for all staff.

Overarching Responsibilities:
●  Lead the continuous improvement and scaling up of Panco Foods Food Safety Program in collaboration with managers, founder, and other appropriate staff.
●  Oversee Food Safety Program implementation to ensure all practices, processes, and products meet FDA and 3rd Party Food Safety requirements/regulations from receiving through production to shipment.
●  Update, improve and track all existing and new food safety requirements required by the FDA, USDA, local and regional agencies.
●  Systematize documentation and ensure its completion, accuracy, and timeliness.
●  Track label claim documentation and ensure compliance.
●  Lead sensory and quality testing such as taste, texture, water activity, shelf life, formula compliance and ensure each meets our quality standards.
● Serves as the key contact for service contractors, food safety and regulatory agencies.
Secondary Responsibilities:
●  Training of all personnel
   
○  Annual and New Hire training for Food Safety, SQF, Allergen and Food Defense requirements.
   
○  Annual and New Hire training on all documentation to assure all processes meet food safety requirements.
   
○  Sanitation Training to ensure employees understand the importance of and how to ensure a clean, sanitary facility.
 
 ○  Training to ensure employees are wearing the proper masks, non-slip shoes, aprons, and gloves to protect themselves and to ensure food safety.
●  Plant Safety
  ○  Daily checks to ensure team members are complying with company policies              requiring proper PPE (personal protective equipment) such as face masks, hairnets,      gloves and aprons.
   ○  GMP audits to ensure proper adherence to state and federal requirements.
   ○  Chemical safety – ensuring all hazardous chemicals are appropriately labeled and          stored.
●  Environmental monitoring
    ○  Quarterly environmental testing for food safety.
    
○  Annual water testing
●  Customer complaints monitoring and corrective actions
 
 ○  Working with the customer service department to ensure all customer complaints are analyzed and “root cause” determined.
 
○  Work with appropriate teams to address issue(s) and establish processes and procedures to eliminate recurrence.
